New Moon in Libra – October 16, 2020
A New Moon is a time for new beginnings, as you plant seeds for whatever you want to create, grow or develop. Libra is the sign of peace, harmony and beauty, the other-oriented sign of relationships that loves love and a win-win, as well as justice. Sounds soft, pretty and light, right? Well, not this time.
This New Moon in Libra is radically different, with warrior Mars in Aries opposing the Sun-Moon in Libra, while Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter square the Sun, Moon and Mars, creating intense pressure. They’re all in Cardinal signs that want to make something happen, but with conflicting agendas, something’s gotta give…
The trio of Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter disrupt the impetus that’s activated by Mars opposing the Sun and Moon – and with Pluto in the mix, there’s likely a hidden element operating that you can’t quite figure out, but you feel it. Plus, Mercury is Retrograde in Scorpio (Pluto’s sign), retracing events of the past few weeks and digging deep, seeking pertinent for greater understanding of recent experiences. Not the obvious story, but beneath the surface – that’s where the action is; in the shadows.
Saturn is demanding stability, detail or attention to any weak systems or structures that require a redo in order for you to proceed, so this feels like a problem-solving energy, rather than a totally fresh start. Mars (action) is Retrograde, too, focused on upgrades as well – and with Jupiter squaring the Sun, Moon and Mars, patience is the mindset you need to master for the best outcome. Slow, steady and methodical is the pace you want to embody with the current setup.
For New Moon intentions, focus on where you are and what needs correction that you can begin now. Even baby steps count, as you are signaling to your Self (and your unconscious), that you are moving forward, even when moving forward means going back to revamp a prior creation or way of being that not serving you. You will still end up on an evolved path and in new territory for you!
On Oct 18, we have two aspects that color the day significantly – and they are radically different, so you may feel pulled in two conflicting directions emotionally. This is your heads up, so you can prepare.
The Sun squares taskmaster Saturn, which can feel heavy and depressing if you don’t do your work. If you know there’s something you need to deal with, do it. Again, even baby steps count. When you avoid responsibility, you carry guilt or inner baggage around with you, so for Self-care and to feel lighter, this reality check is pushing you to take care of business, commitments or obligations.
At the same time, Venus opposes Neptune (its higher octave), creating soft, dreamy energy that feeds spiritual practice, creativity, dreams, as well as compassion and empathy. It is the antithesis of the Sun-Saturn square energy of reality and practicality. Venus-Neptune calls your attention within or to higher dimensions, which isn’t handy for focused, practical efforts, so maybe get your work done and then relax – or one of these duos may override the other for you (based on your life).
If you land in the Venus-Neptune energy, the Sun-Saturn duo can activate guilt (if that’s a pattern for you), should you choose the easier, softer way. This too shall pass, but there is a benefit to following through with what you know you need to do – and then allowing for spiritual/emotional “food.”
Trust yourself to use the energies how they best benefit you – but choose consciously, rather that just drifting along. You get self-esteem when you decide what you will do – and then do it, even if it’s choosing to rest or play. P.S. Delay any major decisions during Venus-Neptune, as the lens of illusion and potential can be misleading. Wait a day to revisit, if you’re called to commit to anything important.
Oct 19 has three aspects that color the day, all stimulating in different ways. Mars squares Jupiter, creating high enthusiastic, can-do, ready for action energy! This is helpful if you need a pick-me-up, or motivation to stretch beyond your usual limits, but just be sure to reality check before you seal the deal. This is helpful for taking new actions or taking actions in new territory with a positive mindset.
Next, Venus trines Jupiter – happy, flowing energy of that brings gifts, blessings, love, generosity and joyful feelings. This is a classic love and relationship harmony – and feeling lovable and loving towards others. What a soothing frequency to tap into during challenging times! Drink it in, embody it, and share the love however and wherever you can. We need this.
Later, Mercury Retrograde opposes Uranus (higher octave of Mercury), which can bring too much info, chaotic info, conflicting info – or you may just experience mental stress and be all over the place. Slow down if that’s the case for you. With this mental duo, there’s the potential for insights or breakthroughs re: issues that have kept you stuck (especially with Mercury Retro) – or you may access your genius and download an innovative creation.
Use Mercury-Uranus deliberately or limit your intake so it doesn’t debilitate you. Suggestion: be open to discover what you are not “seeing” that will serve your growth and evolution. We all have blind spots!
Venus trines Pluto on Oct 21, bringing a magnetic energy to relationships and your aura. There’s deep power available for charming Venus with Pluto, so this is good day to make meaningful connections and for therapeutic healing. This energy has impact and creates a lasting impression!
The Sun moves into Scorpio on Oct 22, accessing the transforming energy of the underworld, where hidden aspects come to light. This is the season of revelations, discoveries that change the playing field as we delve into the shadows, seeking what’s real, rather than what’s pretty.
Feelings will be deeper, power struggles are likely, intuition and healing will be the focus. This is an opportunity to discover your own hidden patterns, talents, have breakthroughs and to heal issues. Let go of what’s complete, as every release offers a path to an unknown destination.
This is the mystery of life – and the invitation is to participate with intention, vision and faith. Or you can be defensive and protective, but that won’t fulfill your highest potential. Sometimes you need to retreat in order to heal or regroup, but you can always have an intention for a big picture outcome that feels right for you. I suggest that. It is a form of spiritual life support, especially in challenging times.
Deciding is your superpower. If something isn’t working, it’s time to make a new decision, which you can do repeatedly as needed. Keep checking in with yourself and ask, “What do I need now?” Then take action based on your answer – and get help when you need it. Yes, you can!
“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, you must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life.” ~ Rev. Mary Manin Morrissey
As always, I’m grateful for your presence on our path together. xo
